* Reporting at the Foreign Affairs Office : Those who enter China must report to the nearest district within 24 hours of arrival. Furthermore, those who are visiting out school must report directly to the Foreign Affairs Office (Main Building, Rm201, x2550) and hand in a copy of your passport and visa.


* Regulations for the foreigners from Yanji local government

1. All foreigners must reside in designated living quarters and must report to the Foreign Affairs Office in case you are unable to do so.
2. Foreigners must have passports on them at all hours in case of questioning.
3. Foreigners are not allowed to obtain employment without the permission of the government.
4. In case of change of the address, it must be reported within 10 days.
5. Foreigners are not permitted to interview or videotape the locals without the permission of the government
6. In renting or selling a house to a foreigner, it is the responsibility of the owner to obtain proper paperwork from the Foreign Affairs Office.
7. In case of revoking the lease you must notify the Foreign Affairs Office within 10 days.
8. In case of violation of any of the above regulations, the individual will be expelled or punished in accordance with the law.


* Everyday Caution

Since the open-door policy, the Chinese government has been particularly concerned with the safety of the foreigners. However, it is not without some obstacles as the foreigners are scattered in all parts of China. As the living standard of the foreigners are in general higher than that of the locals, you can often be the target of crime. Therefore, it is necessary to be particularly cautious at all time. Inform someone of your whereabouts when travelling and obtain some knowledge of your city. Be cautious on taxi and beware of con-artists, etc.

* Lodging, personal belongings, and general safety

Exercise "commonsense" at all hours. Lock your doors, turn off all electronic appliances (and gas if in apartments) when leaving your house. In case of lost passports, you must immediately report it to the Foreign Affairs Office as well as the local police.

* Touring closed-off area :

Videotaping of, entry into or even verbal communication with the closed-off areas or the people of are strictly forbidden.

110 : in case of assault, conflict with locals, theft, etc. They speak both Chinese and Korean.
