Educational goals
The ultimate goal of nursing education is to prepare graduates
with the ability to promote/facilitate/enhance the adaptive functions
of individuals, families, groups, and communities in changing
environments. The focus of nursing is the person, an adaptive
system whose output take the form of adaptive and effective responses.
The objectives of the baccalaureate nursing program are as follows:
1) to prepare the students with the basic foundations, to develop
their skills, to help them continue learning and refining their
skills for scientific caring practice;
2) to value human dignity and recognize human potential for growth
and development;
3) to participate in social and political processes in health
promotion and access to health care, and in upgrading the professional
standards of nursing practice.
Activities and Prospects
1. A national diploma is awarded upon graduation.
2. A bran YUST offers a government-endorsed 5-year nursing program
with an international standard nursing curriculum, whereby d new
academic building, YUST College of Nursing Science, provides an
excellent learningenvironment with ultramodern facilities, hi-tech
educational technology, and computer assisted instruction, including
use of the Internet and digital library.
3. YUST nursing faculty members are recruited from English speaking
countries overseas, including Korea and the United States.
4. All major nursing courses at YUST are taught in English and
Korean, thus providing a trilingual (Chinese, Korean and English)
learning environment for students.
5. YUST Nursing College offers a variety of scholarship opportunities,
dormitory life, and an opportunity for student exchange programs
in clinical courses with overseas schools of nursing, including
colleges of nursing in Korea.
6. YUST graduates will enjoy numerous job opportunities in various
health care fields all over the world.
7. Qualified YUST graduates in overseas universities, e.g. Korea
and the United States.
